Secret Pocket Halloween Ghost
When this little ghost is on the scene,
May luck be yours on Halloween!
He carries around his own little sack.
It is hidden quite well, upon his back.
A Coin, a Fortune or maybe a Treat…
What’s inside, behind his sheet?
I hope that it is something clever.

What is a baby
ghost’s favorite game?
Peek-a-Boo.
This little Halloween
Ghost has a secret pocket in the back.
A little note or a
good luck fortune can fit neatly, tucked inside.
It could hold some
coins, a dollar bill, a sweet treat, or a tiny toy.
It could also be
used as a cute party place-marker, or maybe an ornament or a dangle for a key
chain.
This is another pattern that I have designed for my mother.
She loves to give away little gifts to the patrons, at the clinic.
It makes her happy, and I think it keeps
her young.
The Ghost can also
be made as an applique, without the pocket.
It’s really easy
and quick to make.

#4 Med. WW
Sugar n Cream or Caron Simply Soft
~ 11 yards White (or a Ghost color)
Crochet thread #10
(Or Embroidery DMC Thread)
~ 6” [15cm] of black (or a Mouth color)
4.00 mm / G hook
Tapestry
Yarn needle
Scissors

Notes:
- Work over the beginning yarn end to eliminate
weaving it in later.
- Be sure to close the center of the Magic
Ring.
I usually give it a final tug after the first two
increases of round 2.
- The first two rounds are joined with a slip
stitch in the first stitch of the round.
- At the end of row 3 (a short row), the work will
then be turned, and the pattern will continue in rows (until the edging).
- Other yarns and/or hooks could be substituted:
however the finished ghost may possibly result in a different size.
- The pattern can be made as an applique, without
the pocket.
Stop after row 10 is completed.
And then, work a single crochet edging around the
entire piece, with 2 or 3 stitches in the bottom corners.
- One last note:
You might notice that the eyes of some of my Ghosts are
yellow. I did not buy them that
way.
I found them hidden in an old trunk that I just
unpacked.
I think they make the Ghosts a bit more ghostly.

Head:
Rnd 1: MR, Ch 1, 7 Sc in Ring. Join. (7)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, INC around. Join.

Edging: Fold rows 11 through 16 behind rows 4 through 9, with row 10 directly
across the bottom.
Rows 16 and 4
should be even at the top. The marked stitch (on row 10) should be on the
bottom edge.
Turn the work so
the front is facing, to start the first stitch.
Working through
both thicknesses, down the side of the rows:
Ch 1. Insert hook through the edge-st between rows 3
and 4 (on Front),
And then through the corresponding loops at the top of
row 16 (on Back).
Pull up a loop and complete a Sc
through both thicknesses.
Keeping front and
back aligned, continue to:
Sc through both thicknesses of
the next 5 rows.
Turn to work across the bottom
2 Sc over the first st of Row 10 (along the bottom).
Sc over the next 7 sts.
(Sc, 2 Hdc) all in the last st on the bottom.
Keeping front and
back aligned, continue to:
Sc through both thicknesses in each of the next 6 sts up the rows.
Note:
The 6th stitch should match with the top loops of row 16 in the back.
Next, working around
the head, through one thickness only:
Sc in the neck st between rows 2 and 3.
Note: This stitch is the 5th stitch from Rnd 2 [It already has the 5th
stitch from Row 3 in it.]
Sc in the 9 free sts around
the head.
Sc in the neck st between rows 2 and 3.
Note: This stitch is the 1th stitch from Rnd 2 [It already has the 1th
stitch from Row 3 in it.]
Join with a ss to the first sc.
FO and weave in.
Eyes:
Attach google eyes
or beads or buttons for the eyes.

want to sew on felt or crocheted eyes. ***
Caution and common sense is advised!
Mouth:
Back stitch lines
between rows 2 and 3 to make a smile or smirk or surprised expression…. Whatever
you wish.
Now, tuck something clever into the secret pocket.
